The San Fernando Valley is served by three unified school districts: the Las Virgenes Unified School District, the Los Angeles Unified School District and the Burbank Unified School District.

The Las Virgenes Unified School District (LVUSD) is a “Destination School District.” The district is one of the highest ranked districts in the state of California, and features: top API scores, small class sizes, a low student to counselor ratio, and a Science/Tech/Engineering/Arts/Math (STEAM) focus.

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) serves over 900,000 students, including adult education students. The district has set some tough goals for itself, including: 100% graduation rates, 100% attendance, parent and community engagement, and school safety.

The Burbank Unified School District (BUSD) is a high-achieving, competitive school district with an Academic Performance Index (API) score that is consistently above the county and state average. In fact, the majority of schools in the district score above 800, California’s target API score for a “high performing school.” The district features adult schools, alternative education programs, and career technical education.
